Rome, NY (WIBX) - Three area pilots have been busy training Civil Air Patrol crews who are flying photo missions for FEMA in areas devastated by Hurricane Sandy. Lt. Col. Steven Perta and Lt. Col. Gerry Marketos, both of Rome, and Major Chuck Hereth of Sherrill spent the last weekend at McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey, teaching aircrews how to prepare and use the latest digital cameras and GPS equipment in parts of the Northeast hit hardest by the storm.

All three are part of the New York Wing aerial imagery team.

The New Jersey Wing wanted to ensure their crews were up to date on the latest technology, which is not widely available.
