Utica Rome Unemployment Rate Down In February

The New York State Department of Labor has released preliminary local unemployment rates for February.

The unemployment rate in the Utica-Rome area last month was 6.7%, down a full point from February of 2014.

The state's jobless rate remained unchanged at 5.8%, its lowest level since September 2008.

Meanwhile, the state's private sector job count increased by 148,400 from February 2014 to February of this year.

In February 2015, the number of private sector jobs in the state was 7.751.400, an all-time high.
