Utica Rome Unemployment Rate Down In May

The New York State Department of Labor is out with its latest area unemployment numbers.

The unemployment rate in the Utica-Rome area was 4.4 percent last month. That's down from 5.5  percent in May of 2015.

The state's jobless rate was 4.7 percent in May, the lowest rate since August 2007.

From May 2015 to May 2016, New York's private sector job count increased by 74,000.
