Utica, NY (WIBX) - More than 200 local soldiers said good-bye to friends and family during a deployment ceremony at the Utica Armory on Sunday.

The New York Army National Guard's 27th Brigade Combat Team is headed to Kuwait this coming April.

The soldiers from the 108th Infantry Regiment will be headed to Camp Shelby in Massachusetts for training before heading to Kuwait.

Nearly 2,000 of the 27th Brigade have been mobilized statewide.

The soldiers expect to be on active duty for up to 12 months.
