Utica Teen Arrested For Illegal Firearms and Drugs
Utica, NY (WIBX) – The Utica Police Narcotics Unit arrested a man after carrying out a search warrant that was a result of an investigation into the sale and possession of illegal firearms. 18-year old Vyble Derrick Da was arrested at 1604 Seymour Avenue in Utica yesterday after Police found two firearms with ammunition and marijuana in the home. Police say one of the weapons found was a 12 gauge sawed off shotgun.
Da is now charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Criminal Sale of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. Da is no stranger to the criminal Justice System–last year, the teen pleaded guilty to assault charges in Utica City Court after video of a fight he was involved in on the corner of James Street and Seymour Avenue was published on YouTube.
Officials say METRO/SIU Narcotics Unit, Utica/New Hartford Emergency Response Team and the Special Operations Unit assisted in the investigation and search of the home.
