Utica Woman Arrested For Endangering Child

A Utica woman who allegedly left her 5-year old daughter outside in sub-zero temperatures is facing charges.

25-year old Mahelia Manuel is charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

New Hartford Police say they were called to Oxfoird Road on Wednesday by a concerned resident who saw the unsupervised child, who was not wearing a hat or mittens.

Police say when they arrived, the temperature was 3-degrees with a wind chill of about five below zero.

It was determined that the child was exposed to the temperatures for an unreasonable amount of time.
