UPDATE 2/7/13

Original Story

A local woman was shot in the head and didn't even know. Utica Police are now looking for her ex-boyfriend.

Police say, on Monday night around nine the victim walked into her home to find her ex-boyfriend waiting for her.

The two began to argue when he allegedly attacked her, strangling her with a USB cord until she was unconscious. The victim awoke Tuesday afternoon and called a relative to take her to the hospital. Sergeant Steve Hauck says on the way, the pain became too much.

"On the way to the hospital, she became overcome with the pain," Hauck said. "They called for an ambulance, at which point, the police also arrived. Upon taking her to the hospital, they did an examination and discovered that she had sustained a gunshot wound to the back of the head."

Hauck would not elaborate on the victim's condition, but said she is still being treated at a hospital and that her wound is considered very serious. The police are now looking for 37 year-old Jerry McNair, of Utica.

McNair is about 5'6'' and 150 pounds. Hauck says he may still be in the city and could be using others to hide.

McNair should also be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone who may have seen McNair or has any information regarding the case is urged to call UPD at (315) 223-3510. All calls will be kept confidential.
