As the Utica Zoo works toward accreditation by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, upgrades to the facilities at the 101-year old zoo continue.

Projects completed over the past few months include a new quarantine building and repaving of major sections inside the zoo.

Zoo officials say the paving will increase the mobility for wheelchairs and strollers.

The zoo has also added a new natural gas powered generator and converted all light bulbs and fixtures into energy efficient LEDs.
