Utica, NY (WIBX) - Utica'a next mayor has announced his transition team, Mayor-Elect Rob Palmieri says the nine member volunteer group is made up of local educators, business and community leaders.

"I just picked up the Budget", said Vin Gilroy, a life-long resident of Utica and Certified Public Accountant who's involved with the team. "There seems to be some pretty big holes in the budget, my initial job is to go through the budget and see where there are potential cuts" said Gilroy, adding that he will then sit down Mr. Palmieri and Comptroller Cerminaro, as well as the Budget Director to "see if we can come up with something that makes sense".

Also serving on the Transition Team, the President of IEBW Local 43, a retired Engineer and other business and community leaders.

In addition to his Transition Team, Palmieri is forming a special Ad-Hoc Quality of Life Committee which will focus on day-to-day neighborhood and businesses issues, things like codes enforcement, the city's noise ordinance, parking, animal control as well as the promotion of recreational and cultural amenities Utica has to offer.

Palmieri takes office January 1, 2012.
