Vans Collides With Fuel Tanker In Town Of Paris

A tractor trailer pulling a fuel tank containing about 7,500 gallons of diesel fuel was hit by another vehicle on Route 8 in the Town of Paris this morning.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office says 44-year old James Newey of Rome lost control of his van and hit the rear portion of the tractor trailer.

Deputies say although the trailer sustained significant damage, no fluids were released.

Unsafe speed and slippery road conditions were determine to be contributing factors in the accident.

Newey was issued a traffic ticket for failure to maintain a lane.
