Vernon Man Charged With Rape Of Rome City Minor
Rome, NY (WIBX) - A Vernon man was arrested and hauled off to jail this morning on allegations that he raped a minor in the City of Rome. Rome City and State Police investigated the case and concluded that 28-year-old Ryan J. Whitman sexually assaulted the underage girl.
Whitman is charged with 1st Degree Rape, which is a Class B Felony. He was transported to the Oneida County Correctional Facility with cash bail set at $50,000.00. The case has been turned over to the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office for Grand Jury action. Officials say the Child Advocacy Center is working with the victim, and offering counseling services as needed.
