Vestal Court and Nanticoke Fire Officials Accused of Larceny

Two women in charge of public money are accused of stealing that money.

Vestal Court Clerk Linda Vail and Nanticoke Fire Department Treasurer Laura Landers are each charged with felony grand larceny in separate investigations.  Vail is accused of stealing $12,300 in court funds while Landers is accused of stealing $7,779 from the fire department’s coffers.

Both women were released following their arraignment.

Broome County District Attorney Steve Cornwell says the arrests under the new Public Integrity Unit in the D.A.’s office are the first with more expected in upcoming weeks.
