New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz will officially miss the rest of the 2014-2015 season.

Head Coach Tom Coughlin said Monday that Cruz will need surgery to repair a torn patellar tendon in his right knee and the star wideout will indeed miss the rest of the season.

Cruz tore the tendon in the third quarter of the Giants' blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles when he jumped to catch a would-be touchdown in the endzone.

The play ended with Cruz dropping the ball and instantly grabbing his right knee before being carted off the field and brought to a Philadelphia hospital.

Cruz was transferred to the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan on Monday.

The Giants are hoping that rookie Odell Beckham Jr. and Rueben Randle can fill the void left by Cruz for the rest of the season.

Cruz caught 23 passes for 337 yards and one touchdown through the first six games this season.
