They say one of the hardest things to do in sports is hit a baseball.

But, I must say, it's certainly not as difficult as it seems when Bartolo Colon is at the plate.

I get it. The ball isn't very big. It's usually coming at you at 90-plus mph. Plus, it's round and so is the bat. Add to that Colon is a burly guy at more than 280-pounds and now of over the age of 40. He's also a pitcher and we all know they don't typically handle the bat that well. But, really? Colon can barely take a swing without falling over. I'm surprised he hasn't ended up on the disabled list after one of his unbalanced, toppling-over attempts to make contact.

Having said that, Colon did come through with a clutch RBI single in the Mets' 4-3 win over the Braves on Sunday. If you missed it, it's certainly worth watching:

As a pitcher, and for most of his career an American League pitcher who very rarely gets to bat, I can understand his lack of success. But, to put it in perspective, following Sunday's game Colon upped his career batting average to .080! He's got 13 career hits in 163 at bats and that was his first RBI since 2005.
