The State Department of Transportation is announcing new traffic signal configurations in the Village of Mohawk.
Beginning on November 13, two traffic lights on Route 5s in the village will feature a flashing yellow left turn phase.

The signals are at the intersections of 5s and Warren Street and 5s and East Main Street.

Both signals currently have a green left turn arrow that stops traffic opposite the left turn lane.

During the flashing yellow phase, opposite traffic will have the right of way and left turns can be made when it is safe.

The DOT believes this will reduce delays for left-turn drivers as well as conserve time and fuel.
