Volunteer Assistant Football Coach Charged With Rape

West Winfield, NY (WIBX) - A volunteer assistant football coach at Mount Markham High School in West Winfield, has been charged with rape. State police say their investigation led them to arrest 24-year-old Fritz M. Barrett today, charging him with:

• 2nd Degree Rape -  Class D Felony
• Endangering The Welfare of a Child - Class A Misdemeanor

After his arraignment in the Town of Bridgewater Court, Barrett was taken to the Oneida County Correctional Facility pending further court action.

Officials say Barrett worked as a volunteer assistant football coach at the school. The investigation is still on-going and officials are asking anyone who may have information regarding this case, or who may have been a victim of Barrett, to contact the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center at (315) 732-3990.

The Child Advocacy Center is assisting police efforts, and providing counseling to the victim.
