ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York's volunteer firefighting companies are promoting their annual drive for more members.

The Firemen's Association of the State of New York is holding a news conference in the Albany suburb of Colonie on Thursday. The group will give details on its annual recruitment weekend on April 28 and 29, when volunteer fire departments statewide will open their doors.

The firefighters' group will be joined by Assemblyman Phil Steck and state Sen. Kathleen Marchione.
