A highly unusual warm spell of weather during December 2015 could shatter high temperature records dating back to the 1800s across New York and the Northeast.

According to Accuweather, the weekend of December 13-15 could be 20-30 degrees higher than average over a wide swath of the Eastern United States from Texas to Western and Central New York then stretching north to Ottawa, Ontario. During this time we're usually starting to feel winter's fury.

"To put into perspective how mild it will be, overnight low temperatures will be higher than the average daytime high temperature for this time of year," AccuWeather Meteorologist Michael Doll said.

Buffalo's high temperatures for these mid December days are 62-64 set back in 1889 and 1901. Buffalo is forecast for a high of 60 on Saturday while Utica will likely top out in the upper 50s and New York City might see 65.
