Utica, NY (WIBX) - Most County employees who work at offices on Elizabeth Street in Utica have been sent home for the day.

A lack of water following a shutoff of the supply to buildings in the area is forcing the offices to close for the day.

Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente says that although some offices may remain open, those with appointments in the buildings, particularly with the Department of Social Services and Workforce Development, should call ahead first.

Utica Police are still advising motorists that Burnet Street between Bleecker and Elizabeth is closed because of the water main break.  Motorists need to use an alternate route until further notice.
