Waterville vs. Newfield

The Waterville boys basketball team jumped out to a 19-4 1st quarter lead and never looked back on Saturday, en route to a 54-41 Class C State Regional win over Newfield.  The victory advances the Indians to another appearance at the NYS Tournament in Glens Falls, this Friday.

Waterville's Zach Sawyer scored 24-points on the afternoon and Hunter Williams netted 11-points to lead the Indians.

It's the second straight trip to the Class C Final Four for Waterville.  Last year, they lost to Hoosic Valley, 62-58 in the semi-finals.

Waterville will play Lyons on Friday at 1:30 in the NYS semi-final round in Glens Falls.

New York Mills vs Laurens

The New York Mills Marauders are heading back to a third straight State Tournament appearance this Friday after winning the Class D Regionals with a 44-39 win over Laurens on Saturday in Oneonta.

Terrance Nichols (16-points) and Andrew Surprenant (11-points) led the way for New York Mills, posting a combined 13-points in the final minutes of the game to secure the win.

New York Mills increased their record to 21-3 and will face International Prep at Grover on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Glens Falls Arena.
