Waterville Teen Killed After His Pickup Crashes Into a Tree

State Police are investigating a fatal one-car crash that happened on Mason Road in the Town of Sangerfield.

According to police, Troopers responded to a home on Mason Road for a welfare check after a resident called 911 when she heard someone calling for help.

Upon arrival Troopers discovered a pickup truck had crashed into a tree on the east side of the roadway.

A passenger in the vehicle, 18-year-old Michael Woods, was waving his arm out of the passenger window calling for help. He had to be extracated.

The driver, 16-year-old Jonathan Beach of Waterville, was pronounced dead at the scene. Woods was transported to Upstate via Life Flight with leg injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
