Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente, Jr. has issued a travel and outdoor activity advisory beginning tonight, February 14 2015 at 6pm through all of Sunday.  A cold front will begin passing through the area tonight and will produce snow squalls with heavy snow and strong winds that could dramatically reduce driver’s vision.  The passing of the front will drop temperatures below zero that combined with strong winds will produce the coldest wind chill temperatures so far this winter.   First responders will have to encounter the elements should motor vehicle accidents occur, so for their safety, please avoid unnecessary travel.

Picente urges all residents to avoid going outdoors for extended periods of time due to the danger of frostbite, which could occur in just a few minutes.  He reminds residents to use the same caution with their pets.  The County Executive also asks residents to check on their neighbors who are senior citizens.

At this time no roads are closed and DPW crews are on standby to clear roadways as needed.
