NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (AP) — The last of a western New York air base's C-130 military transport planes have been welcomed home for the last time.

Dozens of relatives and friends of the crew members aboard three of the large aircraft were on hand to greet them as they landed Sunday at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, home to the 914th Airlift Wing. The crews returned from being deployed overseas for several months.

The airlift wing is switching to flying KC-135 refueling tankers as part of its new mission. The C-130s will be transferred to another air base after being based in western New York for more than 40 years.

The air reserve station is the largest employer in Niagara County with 2,600 employees.
