YORKSHIRE, N.Y. (AP) — A school district in western New York is mourning the death of a teacher who was killed in an all-terrain vehicle accident over Memorial Day weekend.

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office says 33-year-old Dawn Krol, of Clarence, crashed an ATV on a road in the rural town of Yorkshire on Sunday evening. She was taken to a local hospital before being transported to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, where she died from her injuries.

Deputies say she was alone at the time of the accident, which remains under investigation.

Krol was a high school math teacher in the Pembroke Central School District in Genesee County for the past year. Before that she taught for more than a decade at a charter school in Buffalo.
