Westmoreland Man Charged With Attempted Arson
Westmoreland, NY (WIBX) – A Westmoreland man has been charged with attempted arson as the result of a domestic incident.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office says 41-year old Douglas Walts threatened to burn down a home on Route 26 in Westmoreland.
Deputies say as Walts was leaving the home, he attempted to light a blanket on fire, which was hung to act as a doorway.
Other people inside the home were able to put out the fire before any damage was done.
Walts then exited the home and went to another structure on the property and attempted to set that on fire.
That fire was also extinguished before it caused any damage.
Walts was sent to the Oneida County jail on $30,000 bail.
