The search for 2 missing convicts who escaped from Clinton Federal State Prison in Dannamora is focusing on a rural area in northeastern New York on Tuesday afternoon.

Police have been on an intense manhunt for Richard Matt, 48, and David Sweat, 34, who escaped from the maximum security prison on Saturday, June 6th, using power tools and going through a manhole.

Several news stations reported state police helicopters flying over the small town of Willsboro, which is where unconfirmed reports say the two men were spotted.

Willsboro, NY is a village in northeastern New York State with a population of about 2000 people.  It's located 30 miles south of Plattsburgh and 35-miles south of Dannermora and the Clinton Correctional Facility.

Willsboro was a paper milling town until the 1960's when the industry declined.  Today, it's a bedroom community for Plattsburgh and relies on tourism with scenic views and waterways, including its east border which is Lake Champlain.  Willsboro is also a short boat ride to Burlington, Vermont.
