Whitesboro, NY (WIBX) -Fire investigators continue to collect evidence relating to a fatal explosion that killed one person over the weekend at 24 Albett Avenue in Whitesboro and displaced another family living next door.

According to Duane Evans, Assistant Fire Chief in Whitesboro, today crews will be investigating the home's hot water heater and furnace.

Evans said officials are still piecing together clues to figure out what went wrong.

"General consensus of the whole situation is we've had a major gas explosion here; it's pretty obvious," Evans said.  "Our goal is just to determine, obviously, what caused this explosion at this time."

Law enforcement officials have yet to release the name of the victim.
