A Whitesboro man has pleaded guilty in Federal Court in Syracuse to possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.

The U-S Attorney's Office says 23-year old Kaylon Pruitt admitted he was holding a 12 gauge shotgun when he answered the door at his home in Whitesboro last October.

The person at the front door was a New York State Parole officer who was visiting another person at the home.

Pruitt was previously convicted of burglary in South Carolina in 2010.

He faces up to ten years in prison when he's sentenced on May 21st.
