In honor of the 70th anniversary of D-Day, the Whitestown American Legion Post will be holding a Remembrance Ceremony to honor American Veterans past and present.
70 years ago today, thousands of New Yorkers set out to storm the beaches of Northern France to liberate millions of Europeans from the tyranny of Adolph Hitler and the Nazi regime.

Nearly 37,000 of those soldiers did not make the return trip home from the D-Day invasion.

Retired Army Sgt. Peter Calabrese says today is about honoring the memory of those soldiers.

Sgt. Calabrese and other members of the Whitestown American Legion Post say they will spend the day remembering those who died for freedom, and those who continue to serve.
