Whitney Point and Owego Votes to be Recounted

Whitney Point residents still do not know who their next mayor will be.

Trustees Ryan Reynolds and Jason Somers are in a race that is too close to call following voting March 18, 2015.

A recount is expected.

Current Mayor David Downs announced earlier that he is leaving village politics.

The three trustees elected to the Village Board in Owego are Phoebe Shafer-Morris of the Rebuild Owego Party, Robin Manville of the Positive Change Party and Jenny Ceccherelli of the Rebuild Owego Party.

A recount has been requested for all three districts.

In the third ward, only three votes separated Ceccherelli from her opponent Ann Lockwood. Shafer-Morris is ahead of Lisa Curatolo by 44 votes and Manville was ahead of Jacque Millar by 31 votes.
