Cortland County Sheriff’s officials are continuing to investigate the shooting of a hunter in the Town of Willet December 6 but are revealing the identities of the two men involved.

Authorities say 24-year-old William Cobb of Willet was hunting in the woods off Route 221, unbeknownst to 53-year-old Michael Quail of Marathon, who was also hunting in the area.

Investigators say Quail reportedly fired a single round that hit Cobb in the abdomen.

Cobb was flown to a Syracuse hospital and has since been released.
