One person is now reported to be dead while two others are still recovering from injuries following a rollover crash on Interstate 86 in the Town of Windsor January 28 in which one of the occupants of a sport utility vehicle was ejected and trapped until rescuers lifted the car.

New York State Police now say 19-year-old Darien Frias of the Bronx was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle.

He died of his injuries on January 29, 2016.

The driver, 22-year-old Andrew Fuerteperez and passenger, 19-year-old Samantha Figueroa, both of the Bronx, were taken to Wilson Hospital and have since been released.

The crash happened at about 11:35 on Interstate 86 East just before the Exit 77 off-ramp.

The 2005 Ford Escape drifted off the pavement, left the shoulder then rolled over into a rock ditch.

Frias was a rear-seat passenger while Figueroa rode in the front seat.

The investigation is continuing.
