A major weather service is out with its winter prediction for the Northeast and they say things won't be as cold as last year.

Accu-weather announced on Thursday that they're predicting an El Nino winter for New York which could mean warmer temperatures and less snow.  El Nino, which is forming in California, is expected to bring some much needed precipitation to the west coast.

Accu-weather says Upstate New York is still unsettled when it comes to snow accumulation.  Each coastal storms in higher elevations could mean a significant snowfall for our region; however, we are not expected to experience the very cold temperatures we dealt with last year.
