Winter parking rules in Binghamton and Johnson City start.

In both municipalities, drivers have to park on the side of the street that corresponds with the next calendar day number at 5 p.m. and the rule is in effect for the full 24-hours before vehicles have to be moved to the other side of the street.

For example, at 5 p.m. December 1, cars on the street have to be parked on the even side, corresponding with the next day being December 2, then moved to the odd side of the street at 5 p.m.

The alternate side of the street rules also applies to short-term parkers except in designated areas.

Johnson City is also establishing new snow emergency routes on designated Red-Line Streets where no parking will be allowed following a snowfall of two inches or more. The complete list of those streets is listed in the Village Code 264-100.

Overnight parking in metered zones is prohibited from December 1 to April 1 between 12:01 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.

The winter parking rules are intended to allow for better snow removal and for access to homes by emergency vehicles during winter weather.

The rules will remain in effect in the City of Binghamton through mid-March.

The alternate parking in the Village is from December 1 to April 1.

In the Village of Endicott, the code states that the parking of vehicles is prohibited on all Village streets and municipal parking lots from December 1 to April 1 between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., except on those streets or parts of streets or locations in municipal lots that are posted parking permitted between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. and parking in those locations is prohibited between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. after 3 inches or more of snow fall and vehicles parked in those locations must be moved for snow removal or they may be towed.
