The National Weather Service is advising residents in areas of the Southern Tier and Central New York that a mix of light snow, sleet and freezing rain is possible for February 7.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m. with the possibility of a thin coating of ice in the region.

Forecasters say impacted areas are on either side of the Interstate 81 Corridor.

While the precipitation is expected for a relatively short period of time, it does fall between 4 and 7 a.m. while motorists are getting started with the morning commute.

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet, or freezing rain can cause slippery roads and limited visabilities.
