NEWCOMB, N.Y. (AP) — For the fifth year in a row, New York state is welcoming cross-country skiers and snowshoers this winter to open house weekends at a historic Adirondack great camp.

Camp Santanoni in Newcomb was one of the earliest great camps built by wealthy families beginning in the late 19th century. It's now managed by state environmental officials.

Cross-country skiers and snowshoers will have access to the historic camp properties during the Martin Luther King holiday weekend, Jan. 13-15; President's Day holiday weekend, Feb. 17-19; and the weekend of March 10-11.

People can visit the camp all year, but the buildings are not typically open to the public during the winter.

The round trip from Camp Santanoni's Gate House complex along Route 28N to the lakeside main lodge complex is 9.8 miles.
