Winthrop men's basketball coach Pat Kelsey took full advantage of the microphone sitting in front of him at a recent post-game news conference after his team lost, 65-55, to Ohio State, but rather than focusing fully on the game, Kelsey shared his thoughts on the deadly school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT last week.

Kelsey says he took the opportunity to deliver his passionate comments because he knew that playing the fourth-ranked team in the nation gave him his biggest stage to share his thoughts.

Coach Kelsey talks about how lucky he feels to be able to travel back home to hug and kiss his young daughters, then proceeds to say something needs to be done prevent future tragedies.

He adds that he isn't smart enough know if it's a gun control issue, a mental illness issue, or a society issue but calls on President Obama and House Speaker John Boehner to 'step up'. Kelsey says he'll work to be an agent of change in his own life, with his players and his family.
