A Utica woman is facing charges following a shoplifting investigation at the J.C Penney store in the Sangertown Mall.

New Hartford Police say 39-year old Cherie Spencer allegedly concealed over $2,000 worth of store merchandise in shopping bags that she had brought into the store with her.

Police say they found 81 pieces of merchandise, including jewelry, clothing and cosmetics.  They say Spencer was also in possession of over $700 worth of property stolen from two other stores in the mall.

Spencer is charged with grand larceny.

She also has three outstanding arrest warrants from the Watertown area, also for larceny.
