Woman Convicted In Husband’s Stabbing

Utica, NY (WIBX) -  An Oneida County jury has convicted Jenise Haddad-Smith for the attempted murder and assault of her estranged husband.

The 48-year-old woman had been on trial for the incident which happened in March of last year. When police arrived, they found both Haddad-Smith and Todd Smith, 34, suffering from stab wounds. Both were seriously injured.

She claimed Todd Smith stabbed her while high on drugs and she reacted by stabbing him in self defense. He claimed she slit his throat as he lie on the bed, according to reports. The couple is from Frankfort but the incident occured at Todd Smith's parents' home in Westmoreland.

Haddad-Smith will be sentenced March 23rd.
