ELLISBURG, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say they've recovered the body of a 64-year-old New York woman who apparently drowned while swimming in a pond that spills into Lake Ontario.

WWNY-TV in Watertown reports (http://bit.ly/2sWce3T ) that a family was swimming and kayaking in Floodwood Pond in the Jefferson County town of Ellisburg around 2:45 p.m. Sunday when several children began struggling in the strong current in a channel leading to the lake's eastern end.

Adults went to their rescue, including Yvonne Kraus, of Central Square in neighboring Oswego County. The county sheriff's office says Kraus was swept into the lake and disappeared.

Police say her body was recovered Sunday evening after a search by several agencies.
