CLAY, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a woman has died after the car she was driving slammed head-on into a truck on a road outside Syracuse.

The Onondaga County sheriff's office says the woman was driving in the town of Clay at around 10:40 p.m. Monday when she crossed into the opposite lane and hit a box truck.

Deputies say the woman was unconscious as emergency crews worked to remove her from the heavily damaged car. She was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, where she was pronounced dead. Her name hasn't been released.

The truck driver, a 42-year-old man from Connecticut, was treated at the same hospital for minor injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
