Woman Struck By Vehicle In New Hartford

A New York Mills woman was taken to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle in New Hartford earlier this afternoon.

New Hartford Police say at around two, Garrett Parker, 23, of Whitesboro, was trying to turn right out of Hannaford Plaza onto Commercial Drive when he turned his attention to oncoming traffic.

As Parker moved his vehicle, he didn't see Irene Hernandez, 58, entering the crosswalk, and struck her with his vehicle.

Hernandez was taken to the hospital for pain in her left leg.

Parker was issued a summons for Failure to Yield the Right-of-Way to a Pedestrian in a Crosswalk.
