Rome, NY (WIBX) - Rome Art And Community Center will be host to Renaissance Revels, a world-class Renaissance Festival and Artisan Market, Saturday and Sunday, August 25-26, 2012, from 10:00 am to 5:00pm each day.

Renaissance Revels features two stages of entertainment, including Shakespearean comedies, fire eaters, period musical acts, belly dancing, magic, sword fighting, side shows, martial arts, and so much more!  The main attraction will be two live death-defying horse jousting shows each day, along with a chance to get up close to the horses and knights for questions and answers.

In addition, Fort Rickey Children's Discovery Zoo will have a petting zoo right on sight.  Other attractions include a children's Medieval Challenge Maze, an interactive Tea with the King show, Old Fashion Photo Booth and Medieval Games like Cannon Ball toss, Pillow Fight, Gem Mining and Pin the Tail on the Dragon.

Strolling characters provided by the Merely Players will delight and entertain festival-goers all day long.  Period food vendors, sweets, and a Beer and Wine Garden will add to the merriment.  And of course, a village of Renaissance Vendors for browsing and shopping.  Don't forget plenty of photo opportunities, including stockades!

Festival grounds are located at 308 West Bloomfield Street in Rome, NY.  Off-site parking will be held at the Berkshire Bank Main Branch parking lot on the corner of James Street and West Dominick Street (across from Ft. Stanwix National Monument) with shuttle bus service to the festival provided by Birnie Bus Service.  Additional parking locations will be announced at a later date.
