Ivan Nova won his fifth straight start and Robinson Cano and Curtis Granderson homered to push the Yankees' win streak to nine with a 4-1 victory Sunday, and series sweep of the Nationals.
Nova (9-2) worked 7 2/3 innings of one-run ball, allowing seven Washington hits while walking one and striking out four.
Edwin Jackson (3-4) allowed only two runs over six innings but served up Curtis Granderson's 21st homer, a solo-shot in the fifth that put the Yankees ahead 2-1.
Robinson Cano added insurance with a solo-blast in the seventh. Mark Teixeira had three hits and a sacrifice fly.
Rafael Soriano picked up his 13th save.
