The New York Yankees made a pair of trades Wednesday, including one that shipped-off a player who had just been recognized for his performance with the team's triple-A affiliate.

Ben Gamel, 24, was named the International League's Player of the Year on Wednesday, then was promptly dealt to the Seattle Mariners for a two of teenage pitchers, the NY Post reports:

Right-handers Juan De Paula and Jio Orozco were both pitching with Seattle’s rookie-level Arizona League team. The 6-foot-3 DePaula is just 18 and was signed as a non-drafted free agent in 2014, while Orozco, 19, is 6-foot-1 and was selected in the 14th round of 2015’s first-year player draft.

Gamel hit .308 with six homers and 51 RBIs in 116 games for Scranton Wilkes/Barre this year. He also finished with 26 doubles and 19 stolen bases.

In another move, the Yanks acquired outfielder Eric Young Jr. from the Milwaukee Brewers for cash considerations. The switch hitting Young, 31, has played for the Rockies, Braves and Mets but hadn't appeared in a big-league game this year.
