The Yankees will be without closer Andrew Miller for the next two weeks due to a strain in his pitching forearm.

Manager Joe Girardi broke the news following Wednesday's 5-4, 11 innings loss to the Nationals, according to Yankees.com:

Girardi emphasized that the ligament itself is healthy, which he and Miller both found encouraging. It's the muscle that has a small strain in it.

In his absence, Dellin Betances will assume the closer's role until Miller can return.

A former starting pitcher who spent time last year with AL East rivals the Orioles and Red Sox, Miller is a perfect 17 for 17 in save chances this season with a 1.03 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 26 and 1/3 innings pitched.
