Urbandale, IA (WIBX) - If you didn't buy a Powerball ticket this past week you still have another shot at the record-setting jackpot of about $425 million.

But, before you go out and buy a handful of tickets, Chuck Strutt, the Executive Director of the Multi-State Lottery Association that governs Powerball, says he does not encourage folks to spend a lot of money on tickets.

Since it is played in more than forty states and the District of Columbia are the odds better depending on where you buy your ticket? Strutt says every ticket has the same chance, no matter where it is purchased.

He says it's about more, though, than just picking numbers.

The organization is no stranger to the very serious nature of gambling and the fact that it can become a problem for some people.  The New York State Lottery has information on their website directing those who may have issues with gambling.  Gamblers Anonymous can be reached at: (888) 424.3577.  You can call the Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services at: (877) 8.HOPE.NY (877.846.7369).

If you do choose to play the next drawing is Wednesday night.
