The YWCA Mohawk Valley hosted a Community Reach Out Event on Tuesday.

Community members signed postcards, urging local state representatives to pass the Women's Opportunity Agenda in the 2018 state budget.

Kari Procopio, Chief Advancement Officer at the YWCA, says the Women's Agenda contains four initiatives the Y has prioritized.

Procopio says the initiatives include removing firearms from domestic violence offenders, ending sextortion, educating youth about healthy relationships and extending the storage period for evidence collected during rape exams following a sexual assault.

The postcards will be delivered to state lawmakers prior to the budget vote.
