YWCA Mohawk Valley Takes Stand Against Racism
The YWCA Mohawk Valley is calling on the community to join them in taking the pledge to Stand Against Racism.
A public pledge signing event was held on Friday at Utica City Hall. Mayor Robert Palmieri, who signed the pledge, also issued a proclamation.
The Stand Against Racism is an initiative of YWCA USA to build community among those who work for racial justice. This year's theme is "On A Mission for Girls of Color."
Diane Stancato, Executive Director of the YWCA Mohawk Valley, says the pledge signing event is aimed at uniting the community in a bold demonstration that delivers a clear message, that the YWCA is on a mission to eliminate racism.
About 750 events are expected to take place across the country this weekend.
