Utica, NY (WIBX) - A quarter of a million dollar federal grant will help Mohawk Valley Community College assist students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The grant was announced by Congressman Richard Hanna.

MVCC President Randall VanWagoner says the college is thankful for the funding to continue the Upward Bound program with the Utica School District.

The $250,000 grant is for the 2012-13 budget year.

The money is expected to be awarded for a total of five years.
